The Best of Dash Kitten 2025

I know everyone is busy around the holiday season so we are keeping things light and fun with the Dash Kitten Crew. Here are the best of the photographs for 2025 on the blog. A special snap from each month should bring back memories and make you smile.

Taz and Paul

January. A lovely shot that was so lucky. Not perfect but Taz loves his dad and it shows here!

Sleepy Toulouse

February. We have a big plant pot on the back deck and it houses a small tree that will eventually be planted in the garden. This closeup of Toulouse was a fun and sweet shot showing that yes you can get closer than you think

Motley at the Cat Cafe

March. Motley has been happy at Neko Ngeru Cat Cafe but he has begun to feel his time has come to move on. He recently went to his (hopeful) forever home, and this photograph appears in the 2026 Neko Ngeru Cat Cafe Calendar!

Jet Lickin’ Good

April. A photograph I never tire of sharing. This small kitten, taken as an emergency intake, became Jed in his adopted home. He came close to being a foster fail with us.

Munro

May. Munro was a cafe cat who lucked out and found a good home quickly, but not before I managed a cool shot with Luminar Neo’s ‘Mystical’ tool giving him a soft look with a sharp gaze.

Jack Asleep

June. Jack has been the subject of several shots where he is the highlight in an ocean of darkness. He looks amazing and so at peace.

Toulouse Solarised

July saw the spirit of adventure and the magic of solarising your cat. Not hard but the results can be amazing – as you can see here.

Ginger Superstar Floyd

August. Floyd is one of my favourite cats from the cat cafe. He is full of mischief and, look at those bright eyes. You will not be surprised that he was adopted some months ago.

Thomas and an Award Winner

September. Two images, memorable for different reasons. First is Thomas, not his most perfect photograph but the last one I ever took. His natural look is friendlier and less serious but he left on September 9th.

Tuxedo cat posed on a wide wooden railing in the sunshine. He sits proudly and confidently facing the camera.

This image was awarded a Commended in the Mono Awards which was exciting for me. It is great encouragement and I aim to get a Highly Commended in future.

Peeping Otis

October. After an earlier false start, playful Otis went to his forever home with great success. He is a bright active cat and has the fluffiest tail. Otis is a lovely character and was quite a presence at the cafe so I miss seeing him. Needless to say there are some totally gorgeous replacements at the cafe now including Bean (below).

Silly Shot

November. I want to share a photo that proves that not every image has to be perfect, and they don’t need to be to raise a smile. Here Jack and Toulouse were sat on the bed and Jack decided to have a ‘clean’. Jack’s paw is actually far behind Toulouse and he would not hit Touly’s ear it just looks that way!

Bean the Feather Chaser & Mo.

December. Two favourite recent images.

I could have removed a lot of the space around Bean which might have ‘focused in on the face and whiskers, but I gave her plenty of space and added a soft vignette that focuses attention on the star herself. I give the feather space to ‘fly’ in the photo and boosted the blue a small amount.

I captured this shot of Mo a few hours before he went to try his new home on 21st of December. The cat cafe are very sensitive to how the cats fit into the cafe environment and monitor behaviour and attitude. Mo, it seemed, had had his fun and now wanted to step back to a forever home, so I hope the family pass their audition!

Mo in ‘kitty loaf mode’ looks quite chubby but the photo is deceptive. He is a handsome and lithe active cat who loves to play and have fun!

So, these are amongst my favourites, although I sometimes change my mind. What do you think?

I looked at the previous post about books, and saw the Lego cat…I have seen a much smaller cat (not a tuxie) at’s a Lego b randed one, and it’s for younger children. So now one can have a adult and a kitten!
