‘Harvey’s View From the Bridge’ CWA Success

It’s Official! My first published short story ‘Harvey’s View From the Bridge‘ has won the

2025 Cat Writers’ Association Communication Awards Muse® Medallion for Short Fiction

The story is part of the heart warming anthology ‘Purrseverance‘, edited by writer and fellow cat lover Sierra M Koester. I am so proud, as it pays tribute to a cat who changed how I view the world.

The story describes Harvey’s brave and determined journey to our home, including his dramatic ear transformation. The record of his pinnectomy surgery has provided help and reassurance to cat lovers whose cats have undergone similar procedures (if you read the comments under the post).

“Purrfection in storytelling and unique voice. I’m incredibly picky and I can’t find one flaw with this piece. By far, the best story in this category. Well done.”

  • Thank you to: Janet Blue for casting her American eye over my non-American English, and for Kat Kern, Ellie-Mae, Latte and Angel Bear, and M E Watson and fearless Erin for their patient support.

The entries for the Short Fiction and Flash Fiction category included:

Janet and the Kitties Blue were honoured with two CWA Muse® Medallions for The Cat on my Head but I will let her blow her own very proud trumpet about those!

As you may know, Sierra is fundraising for Colorado Foster Feline Rescue until the end of the year. So, if you don’t have your own copy of Purrseverance, as an ebook or paperback, then as a first stop, head to BookBaby. The self-publishing platform generates more income for authors (and rescues!) I know some people are boycotting the big book shops at the moment so try BookBaby first, if this is you.

Sierra herself has received a Muse® Medallion for her outstanding article on Feline Pregnancy. It is an essential and friendly guide for any cat parent. Congratulations Sierra, you will save lives and nourish understanding with your post.
