Gift Books for Cat Lovers 2025

Time is getting short, you are running out of ideas and out of money. It is oh-so-easy to panic search Amazon, or go with the (maybe less than great) best sellers or Goodread’s recommended top ten but wait… I have a much better idea.

FRESH RECOMMENDATIONS ADDED DECEMBER 2025

Let me showcase for you a collection of really good cat books that are much more interesting. Relaxing, entertaining and oh so readable, these books will nourish your cat lover’s soul, and – sometimes – have you on the edge of your seat. [… there’s a cool Christmas cat kit too!]

Dash Kitten is an Amazon/Luminar Neo affiliate. We may receive a small remuneration at no cost to you.

Purrseverance – Inspiring Stories

Enjoy an award winning anthology of brave cats and happy endings. Sierra M Koester compiled this collection of stories to inspire and entertain you and her gorgeous cat Tylan is on the cover and is featured with many other positive stories inside.

We are thrilled to announce that our Angel Harvey’s story is in the book and has won a Muse® Medallion award from the Cat Writers’ Association in their 2025 Communication Awards. The volume of stories is available as an ebook and paperback and our link goes to BookBaby (where authors earn more), but the book is also available from Barnes and Noble, and Amazon.

Tenth Life Cosy Mystery Series

I am loving this series, now on to its third book, and it just keeps getting more exciting and fun. The books are available as paperbacks or ebooks via Amazon. NOTE: If you are on Facebook and in the US, you can go to Mollie’s author page and email her direct about copies direct from her.

Septuagenarian Camelia Collins and her cat Blaze move to the Oregon Coast to fulfil a lifelong dream, but that dream becomes a nightmare when Camelia learns she has purchased a murder house. The former resident, reclusive businessman Jonathan Chamber, was brutally killed on the stoop, and the killer is still at large!

The Cat That Chased Cadillacs

First in the series this fast-paced quirky adventure is a fun read.

Yes, there is a fantastic black cat, B. Buckleberry. Yes, there are Cadillacs, and mysterious Eastern Europeans, and animals looking for their own private investigator (P.I.), and catnip tea. Murder and mayhem and drama await this feline investigator!

Oh and you will love The Cat That Followed Phantoms book two in the series which is a spooky and scary thriller you will not be able to put down!

The World According to Spud

This is a lovely little book by a British cat! Spud has lively opinions on so many things that you will find yourself laughing and shaking your head in recognition at his cat’s view of life and humans. ‘The World According to Spud‘. Kindle/Paperback

Mum Carol Walker assisted real cat and model Spud with the writing of this fun book, and as a lovely bonus a portion of sales goes to local cat rescues. The purrfect stocking filler!

Chumley and Hudson Investigate!

book cover showing a woman on a bicycle with a cat in the basket being chased by a dog

A wonderful kid’s book packed with crazy adventures, brave detectives and missing kittens! New and Highly Readable for 7-11 year olds.

  • “Welcome to 1920’s Britain, where cats and dogs have a voice and are treated as equals to humans. In the quaint village of Upper Much-Mousing, one lucky young cat named Erin Chumley inherits an old Manor house and Estate. But with it comes responsibility and bills….. Then trouble comes knocking and the busy City of London beckons…

Lego® Tuxedo Cat

I had to put this in for cat lovers as I have made this model and love it!

Our link goes to the official Lego.com site and may quote you US $ prices but you should be able to navigate to your local currency (and cat). Amazon has it available but with a premium shipping price in the run up to Christmas. I suggest local toy shops or official Lego stores for a successful purchase. This is not a small kit and you will be impressed.

This is a truly fun kit for adults and older children. It arrives with very detailed instructions and sorted packets so you can progress step by step without getting lost. Lego is the best for a reason, you get a quality product, great manual and, if you are confused at any point there, is online help too. There are also (online) several wonderful sets of lights for your tuxedo cat.

  • Yes, I know there are cheap, and even super cheap, knock-offs that may be more affordable BUT I doubt they have the quality or preparation of a real Lego set.

Pirates and Pussycats

A high seas fantasy adventure for young readers, and the young at heart. This adventure features the outspoken privateer Erin S’Ears and the mysterious Persian, Capitan Valentino Shapurr. To get the ladycat of his dreams, Capitan Valentino searches for a fabled map and ancient magical treasure but…… time, ill-winds, sirens, sea creatures, a rabbit, and a Demi-god mean success hangs by a fine thread in this tale of tall ships and buried treasure!

Follow the adventure in this super fun book by Kerry Barbero and Mark Watson

A Black Cats Collection

This book is a treasure that I keep by my beside to browse the wonderful stories.

Black Cats Tell All is an absolute gem and a delight for any cat lover. You may come across a famous cat or two as you read, and the stories will make you smile and inspire you. Grab it if you can find it on Amazon.

At last, a celebration of black cats to reverse negative stereotypes and superstitions. This collection, the first of its kind, narrated by the cats will move and amuse you with their tell-all stories, fun purrsonality profiles, and stunning photography.

  1. What a phenomenal list of cat books! ! Love that Lego cat, I’ve seen it around and it’s very cool! Hoping they make a large one in a Husky one day! 😉 I had to chuckle at the title “The Cat Who Chased Cadillacs” – I used to know someone who loved Caddy’s – old ones. So this title caught my eye! I just Pinned this to share and refer back to! Thanks for the compilation.

  3. We are strictly dog people. But I should get some of these for my brother-in-law; he’s buried in cats 🙂

What I would add to the list is clicker training for cats. I gave it to my step-son; he and one of his cats had a blast with that.

  15. Thanks for the book recommendations, I’m always interested in being introduced to new authors and genres. Being a Halloween fan the model looks like fun, and because I could use some tips about taking good photos, your last book is something I’ll be checking out.

  20. I think there may be that ‘dummies’ book here…somewhere.
I have some really ancient ones my dad gave me eons ago…long before anyone ever conceived of digital photography…and even before computers were anywhere besides huge businesses.

I learned a lot form my dad, and those books, mostly about composition and a wee bit about lighting, but those books all seem to think everyone had an SLR back then…huh? Not me! My first pics were taken with a Kodak, held down in front of yourself, and there was a mirror in it so you could see the image you were making. That was 1968, I think. I don’t remember the kind of camera, but it was kind of boxy. A museum piece by now!

Then I got an Olympus Trip, 35mm, small but adequate for P & S pics, Then I got Dad’s Yashika, a larger more advanced 35mm…but I found it bulky and heave, so then I got a Fugi 35mm, it got me through my youngster’s baby years…then II I got a small P&S Canon, digital…and now I have the larger Canon SX40, also a P&S camera…maybe in the future when I am way more ancient I might try to keep my brain active with a new DSLR…who knows. Hubby has one, but its not his, its from his work, so I do not use it.

But if I ever get a new smart phone, well, then I may just have a handy pocket camera once again.

Whatever this history has to do with books?? LOL! Well, I have used them with all but my digital cameras!
