Summer is finally making an appearance regularly here in New Zealand so I am showing off a bit of beach sunshine and a cat selfie from Harvey’s recent photoshoot taken during our holidays (with my new lens!)
Harvey’s Thank You
Everyone was kind last week telling Harvey how smart he looked, and how handsome and, best of all, Miss Janet posted a comment on his portrait.
Harvey was THRILLED and I am sure that spring in his step is NOT just the healthy coconut oil I have sneaked into his food. He has now insisted I wipe his eye and post a picture of him enjoying head scritches from his dad because this shows how brave he is.
Why brave? There was once a time he would have shied away from dad scritches, but not now. They are his favourite.
The Sunny View
The Paekakariki Hill Road winds up to a spectacular lookout before forming an ‘alternative’ route back to the Hutt Valley. This is one of the best places to stop off in summer because the light is amazing, and the view is fantastic.
The ‘hill road’ is a switchback of a journey and is best left to those confident with their driving skills. Thankfully the road to the viewpoint isn’t too challenging, making it a popular visiting spot with views for miles up the coastline.
As you can see in the photograph of the hill road, the beach stretches for so long that you can usually find somewhere peaceful to settle down for a quiet bit of sunbathing and a dip in the sea.
The beach is also popular with horse riders, dog walkers and families because they can run around like crazy things in the sea. The sea is shallow for a long way out and you can be 50 metres (54 yards) out before it reaches your armpits.
I spotted horse riders heading down to the sands as we left, although I did not get as close as I wanted to before they moved off down to the sands.
Next week we are back to ‘normal service’ as Paul is back at work and I can concentrate on blogging, tidying my workroom and keeping Harvey healthy and well. This means we will be back for the Pet Parade (Wednesdays) and on Thursdays as well as, I hope a fresh post one day a week.
I hope the weather isn’t too bad where you are. Do you want our sunshine? Hmm, I am not sure I am giving it back just yet!
