One of my images has received a Commended certificate in the 2025 Mono Awards. The standard for the top prizes is very high and I know I will have to raise my game for 2026. The link above goes to the website showcasing the winning images and, WOW, some of the shots are amazing.
I am so excited as over 3,500 photographs were submitted and I got noticed. Here is the text of the email I got on Wednesday 17th of September:
“Thank you for being a part of The Mono Awards 2025, presented by Synology.
I’m delighted to let you know your entry ‘Forever Home? Form a Line Please!’ was Commended in the Animals category.
Congratulations, to be acknowledged at this level is a wonderful achievement.”
As you can imagine, this is a real confidence boost and encouragement.

Congrats, Marjorie! You deserve this award and so much more! You are an inspiration with your photos and tutorials. I think this award came at just the right time for your broken heart. Sending hugs and love your way!
You should be proud of that! The last time I entered a photography contest I was surprised my picture didn’t even get a mention because I thought it was really good. (It really was though.) When I looked at the other pictures, I realized that a great shot with great lighting isn’t enough anymore.
Photography is truly on another level these days, and to place is an incredible honor.
Sometimes the criteria of the contest doesn’t chime with the photos we submit. The IPPA photography contest looks for photographs that are (it seems to be) professional in look, then filtered through a major photo editor I will not name, but lack a lot of the love and care you find through the lends of many fantastic pet photograph. But, that’s just me.
