A Tabby Cat Portrait

While everyone knows Dash Kitten (thanks to the blog) I wanted to celebrate Dot with a tabby cat portrait series as she is a characterful cat with her own firm opinions, especially about the boy cats in the household.

Meet Dot our very own grumpy cat. I am not sure if there is a tabby cat personality type but she knows her own mind! Dot is Dash Kitten’s sister (adopted at the same time) and they would both be seniors now aged 13. She is names after one of the characters in Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Sunday in the Park with George’ musical.

Tabby Cat Portrait

Dot was sitting quietly on the deck railing in the garden for some of these pictures and, as she is used to the sound of the camera shutter now, I was able to move in closer (zooming with my feet, not my camera).

Tabby Cat Portrait

I have to admit that Dot is fearless as long as she is with people she trusts and we don’t have a courier driving up to the front door, so I was lucky enough to capture her wonderful eye patterns.

I didn’t realise that there are different types of tabby cat, like grey tabby cats or black tabbies, but Dot is definitely a ginger tabby cat as you can see from the photographs.

Tabby Cat

I think I am getting better at capturing the character of cats like Dot. She has an inner strength and a beauty that she shares with every tabby cat worldwide.

Our Black Cat Appreciation Day POST IS HERE

Join us to celebrate 5th Selfie Anniversary day selfies with the Kitties Blue. Happy Sunday and we know you will also welcome a post from Clyde and Layla at Cat Wisdom 101 after their extended break.

Have you ever taken a series of photographs that capture a special pet’s character? Do you think you captured something special?

Dot is beautiful. Her coloring is really lovely. I think they’d call her a patch tabby “patches of red” but definitely not a classic patch where he stripes are blended.

Dot is gorgeous! These photos really capture her personality and beauty. I didn’t realize that you had one of Dash Kitten’s littermates.

Beautiful photos of Dot! I love how you’ve captured her eyes. I wish I could get great photos of the girls outside, but they are indoor-only so I depend on capturing the natural light when it comes through the windows.

Dot is so pretty! I just got a new cell phone last week so now I can learn to take better photos. My last phone was so old and had limited memory. Now I can start applying some of the tips you give!

That is a beautiful tabby cat. You have really captured her personality in those photos. I haven’t quite gotten the character of a cat in a photo yet, but someday …
