I love visiting Neko Ngeru Cat Cafe in Lower Hutt. The cats are friendly, and perfect for cat photography practice. Most of the cats don’t mind the camera as they get a lot of visitors taking photos all the time.
- TIP If you have a cat cafe locally, grab the opportunity to visit. It’s a great for photographing new cats.
How cute is our feather loving Maeve? I admit that I did have to get right down on the carpet for this shot but she strikes such a confident pose doesn’t she? She is looking directly across at me. It shows how effective your own eye level photos can be!
I shared this photo on Blue Sky and was astonished how many people really liked it. Maybe the ground level makes it so much more effective? I feel that it’s worth aiming for if you can (works for dogs too). I don’t usually leave as much space above the cat as I did in this photo but, I don’t know which I like better.
Which do you prefer?
Or, do you like this cute landscape version of Maeve taken with my camera pointing upwards. She was perched above head height in one of the wall mounted cat beds!
Getting down on the floor really did it, I’ll have to remember.
Either that or, if it’s a smartphone, simply bend a little and turn your ‘phone upside down!
Gorgeous kitty!
Both photos work well so can’t decide.
She is such a beauty.
Fabulous picture either way, what a cute kitty!
maeve, ewe bee gorgeouz in both fotoz tho eye like yur cloze up de best !! 🙂 ♥♥
how ever…..bout that …BURD SKIN !!!
Such a gorgeous photo, it’s definitely photo one for me, I do like some space around the subject in my photos as they’re about to move into it if they wanted too xxx
This is so adorable. I wish We had a cat cafe here!
I can see why it is so liked. Perfect poise and set up. Loads of character shines through from the feline who is clearly centre stage.

Such a beautiful and sweet kitty!

That is a lovely photo of Maeve. I prefer the second with less space above her. I used to get down to ground level for a lot of my photos of the boys. If I had to do that now I would never get up again!
Such a lovely photo of Maeve. Yes, I think the fact that you got down on the floor makes it especially striking (along with her intense gaze and the implied movement of the feather toy). 🙂
