This week’s Pet Parade 310 is a break from our photography series to let you know about a NASA project that really tickles our funny paw bone.
Dash Kitten is going to Mars? What the heck is all that about?
You may know that Dash Kitten, Harvey Button and I love space travel and we reported on the Cassini-Huygens project. We watched as Cassini plunged into Saturn and were amazed that so many watched the broadcast live on YouTube.
NASA created an e-book packed of gorgeous space photographs to celebrate the end of Cassini-Huygens amazing 20-year voyage through space. It is free and we added a link at the bottom of this post.
NASA’s Mars Rover 2020 is heading towards the red planet and it wants to take many of us with it. This is a fun and lighthearted side to a serious project that will explore Mars with technology that is the best the world has to offer.
How do I join the trip to Mars?
All you need to do is submit your name by Sept. 30, 2019, 11:59 p.m. ET and you get to fly along to Mars. ANYONE CAN JOIN IN!!
All submissions are recorded by country as you can see on the map below and I was really excited to submit Dash Kitten as a traveller. He may be an angel but he can now travel with Mars Rover 2020 ‘to infinity and beyond’ as Buzz Lightyear always says.
Sure, it’s a bit of fun, and we may never visit Mars but a small part of the Dash Kitten Crew will set off in 2020 on the voyage of a lifetime. I have already printed off Dash’s boarding pass and will watch him clock up air miles after the launch!
Will you join Dash as he launches into space? I look forward to the updates as the Rover travels to Mars. He is a small part of something very special.
