Updated 2024. This post and the fundraiser is a source of great pridt so it will not be deleted to make Google happy.
Bootsie cat Update late in February 2016 on Bootsie cat. Brian Frum has posted the latest news (positive).
GOOD NEWS – Brian has told us all that the Bootsie You Caring is closed.
The fundraiser has made enough to ensure he has treatment and Bootsie is staying with his foster mum Jenna. You may not know of Brian’s friend Jenna but she is one of those utterly amazing people who change the world with their quiet love and determination. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Jenna for taking Bootsie from that storm drain, and keeping him safe.
The Original Bootsie Cat Campaign
Brian Frum has featured Bootsie and his desperate plight and we are stepping up to join his appeal. Abandoned when his ‘owners’ drove off without him Bootsie has ear mites and chronic infection that we are determined to help clear up. We are also including Bootsie’s You Caring link here – no amount too small. We hope to add a good picture of Bootsie soon – in the meantime, the YouCaring page has several images.
Text from the Bootsie Cat YouCaring page
“Bootsie’s owners never treated him for ear mites he got way back in September of last year. A hematoma and horrible scar tissue has rendered him with a lot of constant pain and scratching. The canal which is bent normally is so thin and convoluted that no medicine can get in to help bring him some relief. Can you even imagine?
Vets I have taken him to said the eardrum may rupture, which would be excruciatingly painful, but there is nothing more they can do for him. Then I researched a surgery called a TECA (total ear canal ablation). The ear canal and eardrum are removed. Upstate vets is the only one I have found that can do it at a cost of $1,800 to $2,000 dollars.
Every time I see him he is desperately rubbing his ear on the street and he shakes his head and paws his ear all day long without ceasing. I cannot stand to watch it and am putting in a steroid, but I know it is not getting down to do anything to help this poor fellow. His ear is always full of infection.”
Can you imagine his pain and discomfort every day of his little life now? THIS IS SO WRONG!!! So we are going to help and we need you too. For how to help Boostie cat – please read on…..

The Bootsie Cat Auction– CLOSED
We aim to host an auction, and are appealing to our readers for items we can add to the auction, which we will host at the All Ears for Bootsie blog, and then spotlight individual items on Facebook. What do we need from you?
Any good quality items – jewellery, books, gift cards, scarves, cat toys, graphics, ebooks – new items people will be tempted by.
A good photograph of the item (clear and in bright light so it’s easy to see) A good picture gets more bids!!!
Where you will mail your item e.g. USA only, Europe or Worldwide.
Whether you wish shipping to be paid – and how much it will be if you do. Shipping can be, and often is, requested – this is fine.
We hope the auction is a success ! We share ! Purrs
Mom thinks she has some items she can add to the auction and will send photos. So happy you are doing this. We feel so sad for Bootsie. Mom made a donation and put the You Caring badge on our blog, but the money hasn’t been coming in too well. Really hope the auction does the trick. Hope to see you for selfies tomorrow. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Thank you guys, it means so much to us!
Oh my God, I couldn’t even make it all the way through this post as I’m about in tears. This is absolutely heartbreaking!! 🙁
I so wish I could help……I’ll message you on Facebook to see if I can. It’s just that Lita’s vet bills are eating me alive. I’m already out of funds for the month, and she still has more vet visit to go.
Hugs,
Sierra
We are crossing our paws that the auction is a huge success for Bootsie.
We have our paws crossed for a successful auction – will share on social media. <3
Having an auction is a great way to help Bootsie.
I’m so glad you are helping spread the word about Bootsie!
Bootsie’s story is just heartbreaking. We hope the auction is a huge success.
Thanks so much for helping dear Bootsie. We all appreciate you!!!
