Jack the Ginger Smartphone Cat

I got some very positive comments about experiences with portrait mode in my cat portrait mode post last week. I think more and more people are discovering this simple but amazing tool on their smartphones!

Not longer after I scheduled the post I discovered our boy Jack deeply asleep in the bedroom (his favourite napping area). I could not resist…

  • You know how your cat can seem so deeply asleep you can hardly seem to see them breathe? Always scares you – right? I tiptoed closer, trying not to move too much and checked….

Yes, he was breathing phew. I set my ‘phone to portrait mode, tapped the screen to focus, and quietly ‘fired’ off a handful of shots.

sleeping cat laid asleep with paws crossed in front of him

A lovely capture of perfect rest. If only we humans could achieve this kind of peace in troubles times.

  1. Sorry I have been absent for a bit…and will be again,. as I will be on vacation in a few days.

I use portrait mode sometimes, on my iPhone 13, but I mostly prefer the live mode, that way I can edit there images to the one I like the best.
But with the tips you give and practice, maybe I will use it more often. I didn’t know about tapping the screen! Thank you!

  5. Such a clever and simple technique that, as your wonderful picture proves, is so very effective. Now all we have to do is make sure we try this ourselves! Thank you for sharing, Marjorie 💙
