Dash Kitten A Photo Memory

On the 6th day of September in 2013 Dash Kitten died after being attacked by dogs. His loss shocked the anipal community and blogosphere and devastated his friends. This photo memory celebrates a fine man cat. He remains lively as an Angel on Blue Sky.

His example of positive fundraising and encouragement when Twitter (now X) was a lively place of engagement for hundreds of anipals, meant that friends wanted to offer him a fitting memorial.

Thanks to Athena Wise Kitty, (not the current Athena) they raised $600US. The pals did this as a surprise, without telling his family, and asked for their local cat charity nomination. The sum was donated to the cats at UHARS (Upper Hutt Animal Rescue).

The Dash Kitten Blanket

Many friends got together and inspired by our friend Newt the Cat knitted and crocheted a beautiful blanket which was sent to me and wrapped me in the warmth of their love and continues to do so today when winter’s chill nibbles at my toes. This is an amazing photo memory!

Each tag holds a message from one of Dash’s friends. The post about the blanket (and new staff_ at Dash Kitten can be read here. Newt’s Mum joined all of the squares together herself, a huge task of which I am still in awe.

Dash is missed

Every single day I think about him, as well as Harvey and Dot Kitten after their sudden loss so close together. Their loss has taken its toll and I am doing my best to de-stress with the current fur family. Below are the images of his Nikau Palm being planted.

Peanut our First and Best Cat

We lost Peanut one day before Dash in a different year. She was our first cat and a tower of absolute strength in the household.

Look at this ‘I am in Charge Here’ face. It makes me smile!
