Cat Reviews and News

A Pirate Cat Mom Sails Away

Today’s post is a brief one remembering a fine blogger and cat mom Kerry Barbero. Her blog Noir Kitty Mews was a joy to read and it always lifted my spirits, and Valentine was such a handsome man cat I am not surprised he turned ladies’ heads.

I was able to send Kerry cards after she became ill, which was such a pleasure to be able to do from so far away, and I know she continued to work in Pirates and Pussycats until it was completed and proudly published.

You can see the vibrant and joyful cover here.

Pirates and Pussycats – The Hunt for White Tail’s Treasure is a lovely fun read with delightful illustrations which I can recommend 1,000,000% and a wonderful way to honour a friend who left us far too soon.

Kerry Kaye Barbero, aged 54, of Springfield, Oregon died June 17, 2025 of natural causes from cancer and Cystic Fibrosis.  Kerry is survived by the love of her life and husband of 31 years, David.

Many in our community will remember her as an award winning author of short stories on her blog, Noir Kitty Mews (2015-2022) and most recently the published author of Pirates & Pussycats – The Hunt for White Tail’s Treasure (2024).
