Take Your Cat To The Vet Day 2018

Cat Door Blog Post

I can hear all the dog owners scratching their heads saying WHY a special cat day, we just had Black Cat Appreciation Day after all. Here’s the thing though…….

Some people do NOT take their cats to the vet ever and this is seriously wrong. Cats need regular check ups. Even indoor cats. They need them every year, just like pups and humans do.

Please pals think about this, DO THIS. Your cat may never have seen the vet surgery and here are some of the reasons people give;

  • I can’t get them in a carrier;
  • They hiss at me if I take them in the car * sob *
  • It might be expensive…
  • They look fine
  • They are only 2, 7 or whatever……..

While humans are used to visiting the dentist, doctor and optician regularly for health assessments, many cat owners forget to take their moggies to the vet for check-ups and instead only when a medical problem arises. This, of course, results in costly bills which might otherwise have been avoided if routine checks, worming, inoculations and blood screening were carried out. – DotY

No Excuses About Vets or Cats….

Take your cat to the vet. Make an appointment because this will give you peace of mind for another year of family love. More than one cat? Take one a week (or month) and mark it in your diary or have a ‘phone alarm repeat once a year.

Don’t let the Pet Parade Pass You By!

This Week’s Featured Blogger

Meet author and cat lover Mark from Erin the Cat Princess.

Erin the cat resides in a palatial mansion deep in the English countryside and has begun to write about her adventures. She is also aiming to publish her words in print. Erin has a Kraken in her castle moat and the postman approaches at his peril. Her stories are packed full of pirates, mysterious adventures and cat detectives.

To read about Erin’s most recent adventure, where she turns detective in London, England, you should start with:

 Chapter 1,

then Chapter 2

and last week was Chapter 3

We are lucky, Erin and Mark are replaying the latest adventure for us on the Pet Parade and you do not have to go back very far * high paw *. This week will take up up to Chapter 4, so you will not have a lot of catching up to do  – just grab a coffee or a niptini and enjoy a quick catch-up.

  1. It still shocks me that many cat owners don’t think it’s necessary to take cats to the Vet regularly! Both Cats and Dogs need to see a doctor each year (perhaps more often if they’re seniors), to make sure they are ok or to catch something early on if any issues are brewing.

    Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them

  2. I agree that it is very important to have regular check ups for your cat. They are very good at hiding things if they feel unwell so regular visits should catch anything sooner rather than later.
    I have been away this week so am all behind. I have just posted my Friday Flashback so will add it to the Pet Parade.

  3. Looks like last week turned out to be a great time to join the Pet Parade. I read chapters 1-3 and left hoping a chapter 4 would arrive soon. Also, I’m glad there is a day of awareness about taking your cat to the vet annually. I know I missed a year or two with my one indoor cat when she was younger, but as I got older, I realized I really did need to take her every year. She was depending on me!

  4. Thanks for the great reminder for all furbaby owners that today is Take your Cat to the Vet Day. This was a great article to read and thank you for sharing the photos also. Hope you’re having a wonderful day. Thanks for the share.

  5. Love hearing about other bloggers, like Erin! Oh, vet day – we are fortunate that ours does house calls, so no more stressed Huskies! Although, my furangel Gibson absolutely loved going to the vet’s! He would lead us there on walks! Our feral kitty, when we catch her to get her vet visit in, is not too keen on it, but doesn’t do to bad for a “wildling!” Happy Wednesday!

  6. Hi Erin … are you going on a book tour? Will you be on lots of talk, er, meow shows? We want a pawtographed copy fur sure …
    You’re quite the famous lady … hugs to you ‘n’ Daddy!

  7. My Mom and Dad are VERY good about getting me to the vet for regular checkups. I happen to like our vet AND his staff so going there is sort of a treat (sort of!). It’s super impawtant to make sure we are healthy because kitties sometimes HIDE problems they might have so please take your kitties and pups to the vet regularly!

    Hugs, Teddy

  8. We’re religious about taking our cats to the vets for regular checkups. It’s SO important to make sure everyone’s doing well, and to catch anything that might come up early. Thank you for hosting the Pet Parade, pals!
