Today’s unusual angle for a cat photo selfie is Chenzou, the retired superstar cat from the cat cafe.
He is the wonderful cat whose other portrait won me the Kuykendall Image Award in the recent Cat Writers’ Association Awards and I wonder, can you work out how I took this picture?
I know it’s an unusual angle for a cat photo and it caught my eye when I was checking out my library for a photo to share. I hope this one makes you smile.
How It Works
Chenzou is in an eye-level perspex box attached to a wall. It is part of the route the cats use to get around the cafe up above human height.
- I transformed it into monochrome because it helps the paw shapes look more defined.
I pointed my camera upwards and captured him from underneath. It may have been easier than some of the photos you see taken upwards though a glass coffee table. I didn’t have to lie down and point my camera upwards at least!
You may find yourself in a similar situation. You just need to hold your camera steady and just take a picture or two. Sometimes it works, just like mine.
