I wanted to show some of my fails of ‘cats on the move’ for the Pet Photo Fails this month. There are some less than stellar photographs thanks to my settings as much as moving cats.
As I am trying to learn more about Manual mode the settings are more often wrong than right even when I try hard to concentrate on which settings to use.
Spot the Cat vs Shutt
If you try a fast shutter speed then you are more likely to capture a cat clearly as it leaps across your line of vision. This doesn’t work every time as you can see with Spot. There is a lot of empty space between Spot and the cat staff playing with the toy! He has made his leap and
Prowling Cat Outruns Aperture
Miranda usually tries to leap across the stream to the wall on the other side. This time she changed her mind and with me playing photo catch-up she turned and ran along the wall. Of course, it didn’t work as a picture. Nothing is in focus especially the busy kitten on a mission.
I hope you have fewer fails with settings than I do at the moment.
I confess that I do still return to Av Mode sometimes as this quickly gives me the depth of field I need without worrying too much about settings but I will keep going with Manual.
