Meet our sunshine sleepin’ Sunday selfie with Harvey Button who is enjoying some later summer warmth. Mum went to the ballet to see Pina Bausch Dance Company so we are LATE!
The weather is so lovely here and Harvey is sensible enough not to go out in the mid-day sun with his white fur!
He loves an evening snooze on the patio as there is no sun risk for him. You all know, of course, that white cats and dogs need extra protection from the strong rays of the summer sunshine. The neglect of his previous owners means Harvey had a pinnectomy or ear-tip removal (well, that’s what we think it’s called – thanks to a Twitter buddy!).
We are grateful to Harvey’s vet Dr. Hughes who did his surgery and got our boy back to us happy and safe. If you want to read details of Harvey’s surgery (Warning this is not everyone’s cup of tea), we recorded his recovery process for anyone who may undergo a similar event.
Early Sunshine Tips :
- Keep your pet out of the sun, if you can
- If they insist on outdoor play or roaming use sun protection. We found putting ear and nose cream on worked a treat if you made sure a bowl of food was ready to distract them with after the ‘really awful terrible icky’ cream was put on 😉
- If you can – start the sun protection early when they are kittens and puppies. Dash Kitten just shook his head after his protecton was applied then went about his day with ‘no biggie’ shrug.
We won’t selfie again until the middle of Easter so want to wish our friends and readers a safe and happy Easter time.
