Selfie with Jake the Rescue Cat

Meet Jake the Rescue Cat!

Readers will remember our Thursday post some weeks ago about our local vet, and his sudden retirement due to illness.

Dr Hughes was not only a veterinarian, he sheltered and rehomed countless animals, something which, I think, will be carried on by the people who are taking over his practice in early June.

Jake the Rescue Cat’s Story

One of the cats who lived on the premises, but who was never seen by any member of our family, was Jake.

When mum went to collect Dusty’s meds this week, you can see that he really made himself at home on her shoulders. He has been a resident at the vets for some time, but is at no risk of him being removed in any way.

Jake is confident, and loving, and Mum would have walked out with him on her shoulders is she hadn’t been riding her motorbike 🙂

He looks a candidate for a new home, doesn’t he? We shall see…….

P.S. We didn’t win the Nose to Nose trophy but we made a lot of friend these past weeks. Thanks to our Blogpaws friends for your generous support that allows to to keep on learning and perfecting our goals, all around the world..

  1. You know, you two make quite a pair…. I rather think we may not have seen the last of Jake. It’s great to know that the vet practice has a history of helping rehome pets and not just treating and taking the money. That says a lot about them, and those that come next…

  2. Oh my mouses! Just look at that. That kind of behaviour means that Jake likes your mum a lot. Like REALLY a lot. Joey (who lives at our hospital) has been up on Peep #1’s shoulders a couple of times. PURRS.

  3. Such a handsome boy! We’re sorry you didn’t win, Janet was right, dogs won the most so they must be going back to there roots, which is why the Dad usually called it DogPaws.

  4. What a stunner! And it looks like he has his perching skills down pat. We would have been tempted to scoop him up, too!

Hope you had a great time at BlogPaws! So sorry I wasn’t there to root for you. Maybe next year!

  5. OMC, Marjorie, did you notice how much Jake looks like Fiona. I hope he can come home with you at some time. He’s so handsome. Super cute photo with you. Sorry about N2N. Can you believe it, cat blogs won only three awards total! Just wasn’t the year for cats! Thanks for hopping, Janet
