Monday is SPCA Cupcake Day here in New Zealand. For one whole day solo bakers, teams of frantically decorating “cup cakers”, and animal lovers will sell their cupcakes and donate the money to the SPCA.

Cooks are officially registered and receive a badge to prove they are baking for the cause, and they also receive a certificate when their funds are submitted. Here in Wellington the SPCA has previously had some of their adoptable pets hosting cupcake sales on Lambton Quay so Mum hopes to head in to get some!

People will be setting up Facebook pages, putting up posters, tempting their friends, and blogging to  help animals in need with delicious and tempting treats, and we think this is brilliant.

The cute little cupcake logos have a big impact – they tell us some of the important things that sweet little cupcakes can, and will do! Each cupcake is a small step towards neutering a pet, prosecuting an animal abuser, or feeding a cat. We will be buying cupcakes this year – proud to help save lives and we thought ……

How about fund raising for your cause with cupcakes – there is edible glitter, easy make  mixes and icing (for the unskilled baker!!) and Sooo much fun to be had for your local rescue!
