You will have seen our post announcing Dash Kitten blog’s certificate awards from the Cat Writers’ Association. We are thrilled to have two of our most important posts honoured.
What you have not have seen is the behind the scenes disaster photoshoot which I hoped Harvey would take part in but which ended up with photographs of certificates, and some ‘snapshot’s of my favourite senior cat.
But none of the two together.
Harvey ate all his treats so fast I could not focus on him very much.
I was hardly at cat level before this blurry disaster happened…..
I got the full on ‘how could you not have any more treats?’ treatment and this was the end of our photo session for the day. I hope to get some better pictures this coming week and will let you know when (or if) I am successful.
Senior Cat Portrait
The upside from my learner photographer’s point of view was the lovely picture of Harvey I was able to capture.
The Newbie Camera Lesson from this is:
- Keep going, keep trying, you will get something you can use.
If you compare the camera settings under the images you can see that I increased the ISO to 1600 which was a new move for me. I have been looking at some website articles about ISO and went for a higher number as an experiment. The shutter speed is F5.6 instead of F3.5.
The picture is still a little bit dark but I was able to gently lighten Harvey’s whiteness in an image editor, and use a filter to sharpen his fur. I was pleased to get his whiskers in focus myself as this is one thing I am working on getting right.
- Do you have one thing that never works? Mine is clear whiskers.
I won’t share my CWA Award pictures because you can find them here if you want to see our prize-winning
Congrats on the win! So cute!
I know how hard it is to get a photos of of a cat looking at the camera perfectly but wow you really tried lol 😀
What a precious picture! And huge concatulations on your certificates…SO deserved!
Applaws Applaws for the honouring pages, miss Majorie, very deserved if you ask me 🙂 You look so handsome Harvey, even when it blurrs 😀 Pawkisses for a Happy Sunday 🙂 <3
Congratulations on your wins! Harvey is such a doll, we love seeing him today – that is one handsome mancat.
Wow, what a gorgeous photo of Harvey!
We know Dad is thankful for seeing your settings so maybe now he can take better photos of us all. Looking good Harvey!
We have one comment down so lets see if this one posts

Yes, I feel for Harvey as humans do seem to always manage to get the treats required for any given photo shoots well below union required levels, MOL
Lovely selfie though and well worth the wait and extra shots.
