The world is going colour crazy, and there can be no better way to do it than National Coloring Book Day which is being celebrated on in August, thanks to Dover Publications.
National Colouring Book Day?
After our recent post about coping with stress in your human; we discovered that colouring, a major de-stressor, has a real day of its own! We believe every cat should encourage their humans to tap into the joy of colour even if their humans can’t draw, and yes that means your humans too, so read on!
Colouring – sorry we spell the English way – is taking off big time, especially with human grown ups. Dover and its specialised colouring arm Creative Haven are sponsoring this year’s first National Coloring Book Day to celebrate the joy and life enhancing effects of ‘colouring in’.
Making National Colouring Book Day Special
Artist Vicki Boatwright aka BZTAT recently posted a query on her Facebook page about colouring books, and found the response overwhelmingly positive, so much so that she is currently designing her own unique colouring book which will have cats, dogs and cool stuff!
In keeping with her art with a conscience commitment, Vicki is having her books made locally – in the USA. You can join BZTAT’s (really nice) Friends and Collectors list to be first in the queue for colouring book pre-orders and get the gorgeous first colouring sheet free. To join see ‘unique colouring book’ link – do it!!!
Why is colouring growing in popularity? We did some thinking and some reading and came up with these ideas:-
- Colour enhances life and good feelings.
- Colouring in company can be fun and relaxing, or
- Colouring alone can be absorbing and creative
- It allows your mind to shift focus, destress, and quietly escape for a while.
- It gets you away from the computer!!!!
- This is a life enhancing, low stress, joyful expression of you, the colourist.
- STOP PRESS :- Pal Cathy Keisha is a super cool Colouring themed post here.
Even those who are professional artists recognise that everyone should be able to tap into the joy of creativity and the happiness it brings.
