The Best Books at Christmas 2018
Munro A Cat, A Mouse, A Crossword Clue
Munro is a cat drawn by cartoonist Sharon Murdoch. Her popular cartoon is syndicated throughout New Zealand and an exclusive collection of funny and quizzical cartoons has just been published.
The cartoons will be an entertaining challenge for puzzle fans everywhere. I’m terrible at crosswords but I love solving Munro’s fun clues.
The book also has an introduction by Elizabeth Knox one of New Zealand’s foremost authors. I recommend her Dreamhunter books too.
“Every morning, in a quiet corner of the kitchen, the puzzle page from the newspaper mysteriously appears beneath Munro the cat’s food bowl. Munro and Mouse ponder the clues. But they don’t always come up with the right answers.“
The Crossword Cat’s Creator
Creator Sharon Murdoch is a political cartoonist and has been New Zealand’s Cartoonist of the Year for the last three years. The amazing thing is she took up cartooning in her fifties after a career in design and voluntary service abroad. You can see samples of her political cartoons here with her interview for Radio New Zealand.
