Today’s selfie is me, and not the cats!
This weekend has seen Wellington host not only the online CoNZealand Worldcon with the Hugo Awards for Science Fiction, and the Sir Julius Vogel Awards (aka ‘Vogels’) for New Zealand science fiction but also the annual fantasy and science fiction fans’ meeting place ‘Armageddon‘.
Armageddon hosts fans wearing amazing costumes, authors, suppliers of costumes and fantasy merchandise, a bit like the American Renfaire events, with lots of amazing period costumes and characters.
Steampunk Author Gareth Ward
I discovered one of my favourite young person’s authors Gareth Ward was launching his new book ‘Brasswitch and Bot‘ as well as selling ‘The Clockhill and the Thief‘ which has won this year’s Vogel Award for ‘Best Youth Novel’. Brasswitch and Bot is promised as an ebook so I will try to find out more!
- You might need to contact Walker Books Australia for a copy of any books as Amazon ignores New Zealand authors really well!
Of course, I take a terrible photo but Gareth was kind enough to pose too so it wasn’t all bad!
Have a good week everyone, and next week should not be such a hectic rush for us here and I will be online a lot more.
Have you ever dreamed of being a steampunk author or a best seller writer?
