Meet Herman at Wonderpurr

Welcome to my part of the World! I’m Herman!!! note the 3 exclamation marks, I never go anywhere without them. I’m so excited to be a part of your Worldwide Blogging Series. Thank you for inviting me.

Where in the world are Wonderpurr?

I live in the South of the USA. I was born in Kentucky—at least I think I was. I showed up on my future mom’s property as an 8-month-old stray. But we now live outside of Memphis, Tennessee, about 20 minutes south of Elvis Presley’s Graceland. There is a lot of history in our area, and many famous people still live here, like the actress Cybil Shepherd, Justin Timberlake and the rock ‘n roll singer, Jerry Lee Lewis, who lives near our house. In fact, my pet sitter also pet sits for Jerry Lee.

What is your favourite part of creating your blog?

Storytelling! Wonderpurr.com isn’t your typical pet blog.

My mom, Kimberley Koz, is a humor author and sharing behind-the-scenes stories about our family is what we do best. Mom is a cat magnet, so there is always some new face applying for membership in the Wonderpurr Gang. That keeps our stories fresh since with every new face comes a change in the dynamics in our family.

What kind of readership have you discovered enjoys what you do?

Every day new readers discover my blog serial, Sherlock Herms Purranormal Mysteries. We will be celebrating it’s one year anniversary on May 22nd. That’s Sherlock Holmes Day and also the birthday of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The first mystery, The Case of the Dancing Ghosts, was supposed to be a stand alone but the response was huge, so we kept writing.

What are the joys and challenges of being a worldwide blogger?

The joy comes when readers participate in solving a mystery through their comments. We never expected that. In fact, there have been times when we kinda sorta wrote ourselves into a corner and had no idea how to get out…until readers provided us with solutions. The challenge has been in keeping up the momentum of posting weekly.

There is a lot of thought and preparation that goes into one Sherlock Herms post, but to the detriment of all other creativity. Mom makes her living off of writing, and so she needs to keep selling books, but if no new books are being written, then…Dori has to cut back on her Smittens cat treats addiction.

So, as much as we love writing Sherlock Herms, we have had to pull back to posting a new episode every other week, and we will be taking a summer hiatus from Sherlock Herms. But, in its place, we will be entertaining our readers with Stories from The Whiner – a newsletter mom used to write about her fish-out of-water adventures while living in the Kentucky countryside. That’s where I made my debut into the family.

Will you suggest some of your favourite posts for our readers to discover more about you.

  • Sherlock Herms in The Case of the Dancing Ghosts.
  • Sherlock Herms Case Files.
  • Frank: From Tabby Terrorist to Mama’s Boy.
  • Traveling with Cats: Smells Like Punishment.

This sounds so great. I wish I had time to do more reading. Unfortunately, all I can find time for is “utility” reading; keeping up with vet med and things like that.
