Welcome to the last selfie of 2018. It’s been a year of fun with our BlogPaws® visit (although we didn’t win, we tried hard), and so much fun on the blog. Your company has been so much fun so, Thank You!
The Kitties Blue have been excellent hosts and visiting you all every week has been the highlight of our week. You are all a bit special.
OK, now I need to show off my latest Phoebe snap.
Getting a good cat picture
A top tip for taking cat photos that I read online was to get down to, or up to, the level of your cat. This worked so well at the cat cafe with our portrait of Harry, that the last selfie of 2018 has me flat on my stomach pointing my camera at Phoebe! She reflects a surprising amount of the bright New Zealand sunshine for a dark-haired cat and is a very dark dusty brown.
Although Phoebe does look like a cat crazy on catnip, she was just enjoying the summer shade! I know her habits and one of them is finding the places to keep her dark body cool. Another success for my challenge of photographing dark fur I think.
My camera settings were simple. I used the ‘sports’ setting on the automatic dial as Phoebe had been wriggling on the tarmac just moments before. The faster speed setting allowed me to capture Phoebe’s movement and her tongue peeping out.
I am looking forward to learning about the other ‘modes’ on my camera over the coming year. I am reading some great sites right now but an so keen to learn more. Do you have any favourite places for camera tips?
Finally An Appeal for a Grieving Cat Mum
I have been touched by the sudden death this month of Mika (aged 7) fur family of @Gingiepurrs.
Her mum is taking Mika’s sudden death extremely hard. If you would like to send a card to support her at this tough time, and need her address (a friend is forwarding mail while she moves) please let me know. A card would be such a kind gesture at this desperate time for her.
Remember to value your friends on Twitter, Facebook and your favourite blogs.

Have a safe, prosperous and happy 2019.
Awesome capture and subtle DOF. Where is the time going? It’s already mid Jan and Clyde’s birthday xo
Great tips, useful even for a ‘Point&Shooter’! I have a sport mode on my SX40 (Canon), which is an older advsnced P & S camera.I still have not fully ut to use all its various functions…had it about 5 years, maybe more.
Phoebe is beautiful
and of course:

I love that picture!
Beautiful photo of Phoebe ! You’re right, the Sport setting works magic outdoor or as long as you have enough good natural light. Purrs
We love that photo of Phoebe! Yes, being on the level of the kitties when taking photos is a wonderful tip!
that is a most wonderful and fun Phoebe photo!
That is a lovely picture/selfie, and a great one to end the year on. So much sun is lovely to see, and makes us feel warm–and a tad envious, MOL
Keep learning all those techniques as you have to share them with us so we can all take as nice shots as yours.

That is a lovely photo of Phoebe! My human frequently gets down on my level to take photos of me. And… sometimes she brings me up to her level!
That is a lovely photo. If I was to lie flat to take it, I’d never get up again!
Took me a bit * grins *
