BlogPaws® Keeps on Giving

It’s true BlogPaws keeps on giving LONG after the conference attendees have flown to the four corners of the globe…….

Kitty Corner in Pleasant Hill, CA is where we left something great behind. Here’s what happened….

BlogPaws attendees get a ‘swag bag’ when they register. The swag is famous because there is a LOT of it and it’s AMAZING! We finished the conference with a collection of cat gifts, tins, and free food vouchers.

We couldn’t take the food home but hoped to ‘paw it forward’, and asked our AdventurCat buddy Savannah for some help.  She suggested the folks and felines at Kitty Corner, Pleasant Hill CA.,  So when we visited Savvy and her family in San Francisco, we paid them a visit.

Presenting our gift to Kitty Corner in Pleasant Hill, CA

Here is Mum presenting our gift of food, and toys and vouchers and…. trying not to giggle too much. She is wearing her Dash Kitten locket, so Founder Cat Dash was present in spirit to oversee the handing of the bag to Chrissy. Many thanks to Savvy’s Mom L. for taking such a fun picture!

NOTE:- Chrissy has left a remark in the comments section with an update.

The ‘free roaming’ facility at Kitty Corner in Pleasant Hill, CA is a great place, check it out!

Many of you will be fans of Savannah’s Paw Tracks, and Mum was thrilled to see the rescue Savvy was adopted from. This is what they call a ‘free roaming’ facility (you will notice there are no cages). Volunteers keep an eye on the kittens ensuring no-one hides away for too long, and proper care is administered as necessary.

All kittens should have a room like this – right? Visitors hoping to adopt kittens are allowed to come in and meet them in this safe environment, which means a kitten can approve a potential forever family in a place it knows and trusts.

Kitty Corner, Peasant Hill CA

Although the free roaming room ‘looks’ quiet in this picture, Mum said there were more than 20 kittens in there. They, in true kitty style, are the sweetest characters ever and it took all Mum’s will power not to sneak one home in her bag!

Yes, the kittens are miraculous and cute, but it’s an ongoing challenge for small rescues fighting for limited resources to keep them safe, neutered and fed. I think every rescue would love to see empty cages, and rooms, thanks to responsible pet ownership and neutering – right?

We are glad that the youngsters of Kitty Corner have some more treats to help keep them running around like crazy things, including this fabulously popular catnip ball! A solid ‘nip ball is new to us and we just hope Seville at Nerissa’s Life Nerissa’s Life doesn’t see this post, he’s a real ‘nip fiend…….

  • As a special bonus, we discovered that Kitty Corner also tries to help people on low incomes who have pets. Their AniMeals programme is a supplemental pet food and supply program for local residents – we love that idea! What a weight off a worried pet owners mind to be able to turn to someone if the dollars didn’t go as far as they hoped this week.

To the swag sponsors of BlogPaws a huge Thank You. As international bloggers who were made welcome by all the vendors we spoke to, we know you will be happy to see swag passed on to a hard-working rescue. Kitty Corner work on the front line with local cats and kittens, and feeding them is a major expense. Every donation of food and green papers is a help.

I love that you donated the swag from BlogPaws to cats in need and I love the look and mission of Kitty Corner. What a wonderful facility. I might have tried to sneak off with one of the kittens LOL.

How wonderful that you helped the kitties at Kitty Corner. We think one of our local rescues provides the AniMeal program.

This is pawsome! Kitty Corner sounds like an amazing rescue. I love that they not only help the kitties that come into their care but also low-income kitties in the area. Great choice of organizations to donate your swag bag to. It was really nice of you to give all of that swag away to needy cats. There was a ton of it last year!

We recently talked about free-roaming cat rooms in my shelter management certification course. I’m thrilled to see more of these popping up in shelters and rescues. It’s much less stressful on the cats and I believe it leads to many more adoptions. I’m sure Kitty Corner really appreciated your generous donation.

This is so amazing. Looks like a kitty paradise. Around here, stray kitties usually find somebody’s barn and joint whatever resident cats there are. People let them.

What an awesome setup for the shelter cats! I love it. The shelter that I volunteered at growing up (middle and high school) had a cat room like this and then eventually built a whole second building. Most cats were free to roam (except ones with health issues or who preferred their own quieter space). Looks like a great visit and I’m sure they really enjoyed the donations! 🙂

We love you, Dash Kitten & Marjorie! Thank you so much for all of the generous goodies donated to our feline friends here at Kitty Corner. When you were here we had 30 kittens and 3 adults; 16 have since been adopted, and our 3 adults are doing a great job of teaching the remaining 14 the ropes with the help of all of your toys & treats. We are so grateful to you guys!
