Portrait of Dot Kitten and Friend
Dot is one of the cats in the family who does not blog. She is our Founder Cat Dash Kitten’s sisfur, and is 10 now…..
Dot had been told to lose weight by the vet as she was tubby (OK too heavy…). The vet said if she did not, Dot risked diabetes and daily injections of insulin later on, so Mum and Dad determined to ensure she lost weight.
How do we get Dot Kitten to lose weight?
We stopped giving everyone Surfing Turfin treats which seem to be higher in calories, and instead, have bowls of Nutro Weight Loss Adult cat, Orijen dried (from Canada), and a regular supply of Royal Canin ‘Exigient’ Savour as this is everyone’s favourite. Dot does not eat much wet much wet food, but enjoys some now and again, as a special teat.
As a result, Dot is losing weight, and is more active and engaged than she has been. This is very positive!
Dot Kitten and Friend Get Active!
We found that, just like humans, one of the best ways to get Dot to lose weight is to encourage her to be active. Children might play ball games, Dot chases Mr Red Dot, or our new Schru and this is a big benefit.
We all need to be conscious of our weight don’t we?

You are quite a pretty kitty, Miss Dot!
Oh, wow. I’m embarrassed to admit I didn’t get the Dash/Dot Kitten thing until this post. {sigh} Don’t tell Bear … I’m on probation as it is ๐

Dot is a beautiful girl! I’m glad I got to “meet” her today. My Manna is also 10 years old this month. ๐ I’m glad to hear that Dot is making her way to a healthier weight. I could use to do that myself. Extra weight comes with so many problems for kitties and for people. I hope that she is feeling as good as she looks!
Well done, Dot! We are so glad you’re becoming more active and shedding some weight!

Dot is a beauty! I’m glad you found a routine that works for her. Getting a kitty active isn’t always as easy as it might seem (just ask very lazy Popoki), but I’m so happy that Dot seems accommodating.

Dot is beautiful. I’m so glad the diet is working. We run around all day, so usually not weight problems here, but our vet wants to keep us better hydrated, so mommy gives us grain free wet food with extra water. Zoe is fussy, so mommy has to change flavors and brands all the time. We get Origen for dry food and love all of the flavors. Treats are a different matter. Zoe is so fussy, that she just gets whatever junk food she will eat. Keep up the good work Dot.

HI guys. I love your selfie tis week, and the pink heart. Interesting about that diet and the food, as I too need to lose a few ones here and there, mouse fat I call it but the consultant said it was cream related! How dare he, it’s my only little luxury. MOL
