Dad and Me in Monochrome

Taz and his dad have been absolute stars of the selfies in the past few weeks and this portrait shows you how even an over exposed photograph can look rather special with something called a preset.

Luminar Neo has a series of ‘recipes’ collecting different adjustments. These adjustments can then be applied to more than one image without having to repeat keystrokes, adjust sliders and match colours one by one * yawn *.

This monochrome preset is called ‘Velvet Shadows’ and is part of a special series for ‘Black Cat’ edits. I purchased it from Luminar Neo. Not all of the presets are aimed at creating a monochrome image, some adjust the light to improve coat colour as well as light and shade. Some presets brighten or lighten in a uniquely different way.

The colour version is very over exposed. If you look, you can see the very white middle of the cat photo which was a bit disappointing. But, using the preset, the picture is transformed into a fun and happy snapshot with a lot of vintage charm.
