CH Kitties on the Worldwide Web

CH Kitties on the Worldwide Web

This week we spotlight CH Kitties with the help of Sophie from Kitty Cat Chronicles. Sophie is a proud citizen of…… the USA! Yes, a little outside our ‘international’ remit and this is for two reasons. First, her mum Emily was one of the gracious sponsors of our auction for Bootsie in 2015, for which we are grateful, and secondly Sophie is not just ‘any old extraordinary cat’ she has Cerebellar Hypoplasia, which is known as CH for short!

  • So let us introduce you to Sophie who like many CH cats is known as a ‘wobbly’ cat. Welcome Sophie…..

Where in the world do you wobble?

I wobble all around the state of Georgia, USA. While I am an indoor kitty, I get to go out on all kinds of cool adventures all over the place to show off my wobble – like camping, canoeing, hiking, etc. I’m not the only wobbly kitty around though – I know lots of them, all over the world. I have wobbly furiends in the UK and Canada too!

What is your favourite part of creating your wobbly (CH) world?

I’d have to say that my favorite part about the wobbly world I’m a part of is getting to meet so many other specially-featured animals like me. Through the #WobblyWednesday hashtag party I host every week, I have met SO many awesome kitties (and doggies too!) all over the world who have cerebellar hypoplasia (wobbly kitty syndrome) and other conditions as well (such as missing limbs, neurological injuries/damage, etc.).

It warms my heart every week to see my specially-featured furiends overcoming obstacles and facing life head-on with spunk, tenacity, and joy despite the curve balls life has thrown at them. Humans could learn a lot from us, really.

What kind of people have you discovered have wobbly kitties?

The kind with big hearts who are willing to overlook an imperfection and see that wobbly kitties have so much love to give and big lives to live! (Although my mom and dad say that I am perfect 😉

What are the joys and challenges of being a wobbly kitty with blogging abilities?

The biggest joy of being a wobbly kitty that blogs besides making wonderful furiends is that I am able to spread the word and raise awareness for CH. Many times, people incorrectly assume that wobbly kitties can’t live a normal and happy life, so they get put down. My mission is to squash that belief and show the world that we wobblies are super fun and extra lovable! As for challenges, well, the only one I can think of is not having enough time to do everything I’d like to do.

Will you suggest some of your wobble nation posts for our readers to discover more about you and CH Kitties?

Sophie and her mum are on Facebook, and Instagram so say hello for a warm wobbly cat welcome!

We recommend you read a little about CH and the wobble nation, help us to spread the worldwide word about the massive positives of Cerebellar Hypoplasia kitties. These cats, like Sophie, are amazing and awesome.

  1. Sophie is a really special, specially-abled kitty. I love that she lives life with such gusto & adventure, and encourages other Wobbly cats to do the same. Kudos to you, and your mom, Sophie!
    Love & biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them

  2. I love Sophie! I got to meet her last year at BlogPaws and she is a true inspiration. Wobbly kitties are very special. I’ve learned a lot about them from Kitty Cat Chronicles. 🙂

  3. I know someone locally who adopted a wobbly kitty (with CH). Sweetest thing ever. (She calls him Martini; shaken, not stirred.) ?

Sophie is BEAUTIFUL! Great to learn more about her and her mama!

  4. We love Sophie so much. She really is special and the sweetest kitty. We are sorry she won’t be at BlogPaws this year for you to meet her. You’d fall in love immediately. Thanks for sharing about Sophie and CH here.. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  5. I met a few cats at a clinic I worked at years ago with CH. They seemed to do quite well and their owners managed the condition so it’s great you’re creating awareness so these cats are understood!

  6. Being a dog trainer, I’m honestly not all that familiar with kitty syndromes, and this was a new one for me. I definitely would like to learn more about it! Miss Sophie has the MOST amazing eyes I remember seeing in a kitty. She is absolutely gorgeous! Since my dog Rugby James has special emotional needs, I appreciate so very much your heart to make it work…and to get the word out in educating and supporting other CH pet parents. Kudos!! Nice post!

  7. What a gorgeous furbaby! I had never heard of this condition, so your post was very helpful! It has peaked my curiosity and have definitely got to read up some more. Thank you for spreading the word!

  8. I love following Sophie’s adventures especially her recent canoe trip. I have also learned a lot about wobbly cats from The Kitty Cat Chronicles and know many others have as well!

  9. Sophie, This is a fantastic interview! I agree humans can learn a lot from how you approach life.

Not only are you talented, you have a great attitude and are absolutely gorgeous, too!

  10. Sophie is one of my heroes! I always try to urge humans to offer their kitties some variety via leash training, etc. – but Sophie does it while having CH, which proves that kitties really do have no limits.

    1. Sherri – CH only affects motor skills. Lifespan is not affected, and it doesn’t get better or worse with time, though a cat with CH can learn to compensate for their CH in different ways. Check out the first post link that Miranda Kitten shared in our interview – it’s an article we wrote about what CH is with more details and info. Feel free to contact us too with any other questions you may have! 🙂

  11. What a wonderful, informative, and inspiring interview..we think Sophie is not only a great spokeskittie but one cutie pie to boot!and her video was just lovely..so nice to see that these CH kitties have a voice now..thanks Miranda 🙂 Loves Fozziemum xxx
