This is my favourite cat snack picture right now, a trio of cute cats having a bite to eat at the cat cafe.
I am trying out Manual settings on my DSLR after my weekend newbies workshop and, although I am getting a lot wrong, every so often I am taking a good picture, like this trio.
Cute Cats Chow Down
The cats are fed on a regular schedule and it is always so much fun to be there when the food bowls come out.
For this photograph meet Oscar (ginger), Chenzou (white and black) and Tiger Lily (tabby). Oscar has an adoption offer pending and the other two are ‘worker cats’ at the cafe (permanent residents).
Camera Settings and Information
As it is winter here in New Zealand I had to increase my ISO. The natural light in the cafe is a bit subdued in spite of the wonderful large front window.
I used an ISO of 800 which is beyond my usual comfort zone of 400. Increasing the ISO made me nervous but as you can see it worked out. because I was guessing at the F-stop (focal length) too and used F5.6. The picture ended up a little bit dark
Cat Group Flash Mob
You might remember our earlier picture about the cats at feeding time. This one is a great favourite because every single tail is perky and straight. I never tire of sharing it as it is so much fun.
STOP PRESS! I have written a beginner’s cat photo post fur the people at Katzenworld.
I know I need to use a slightly faster shutter speed next time and wonder if you ever used a setting that surprised you on your own camera?

That is a great shot.
What a bunch of cutie pies! Love watching kitties enjoy their snacks.
Look at all those tailios!! How happy they are to get their noms:)
I am not one to experimant, I try to read about what thing I might want to use…and then try it out. Sometimes it works, other times dismal, MOL! Point and shoot, even advanced ones are just not the best…though mine is way better than the iPhone.
What terrific photos! We totally love the tails-up one! Off to read your article at Katzenworld now. 🙂
Thank you!
Such a wonderful trio and we love the flash mob!!!
I was so happy it came out!
