Today’s picture is a surprise photo of Silver and Toulouse, which I will explain in a moment. It is part of a thank you from Harvey and I to everyone who is donating to help the appeal Harvey made on Sunday.
The appeal is to help Barry with his lung fluid issues and Gabriel with his important (but expensive) dental procedures while their mum is under extreme financial pressure. I could not stand by and watch an established friend’s cats suffer, so I donated myself and many of our selfie friends joined me.
Claudia hopes Barry’s compounded medicine will arrive on Friday (he struggles with pills) and we as a community have helped this happen. Gabriel will be pain-free after his dental procedures too. The struggle isn’t over but we are helping.
Angel Harvey and I are so thankful we have such caring friends who continue to step up and lift the weight of worry from a friend’s shoulders.
- No, we can’t pay every single bill for every person, but we can help a friend in need when their cat is in pain.
The Surprise Photo
Now the photograph I am thankful for. You must be wondering why two cats on a sofa means so much. After all the internet is full of cats on sofas – right?
On the left is Toulouse and on the right Silver Kitten. When ‘Tooly’ arrived, Silver took one look and decided he wasn’t happy. For days he only came home for meals then disappeared unless the weather was poor. Then suddenly, yesterday, Dash Kitten dad Paul tiptoes up to me and beckoned quietly. He said ‘You will want to see this……’
I followed, puzzled by his insistence on quiet, until I saw the two boys tail to tail on the sofa. I held my breath.
Apparently, Silver had been napping on the sofa when Toulouse leapt up beside him. Paul watched, fearing Silver would get up and stalk off in anger. But, he didn’t and for most of the afternoon the boys shared the sofa quietly and peacefully.
It’s like the Neil Armstrong quote ‘One small step…’ For the two boys to sit together is a huge move forward. Silver still spends a lot of time in the garden but, in fairness summer is here and a nap in the shade is kitty nirvana. These are tough times, but seeing something special makes me thankful I can share good news with everyone.
