One of the top tricks animal photographers learn is ‘get low’ to shoot your pictures and it’s a tip I love to share.
Getting down allows you to enter your cat’s world (or any pet) in a unique way. Even if you have trouble getting down for any reason once there you are in cat territory, ready to go muzzle to muzzle and capture sharp pictures of fur, whiskers and coat colours.
I thought a great way to show how effective this can be was to shoot a ground-level selfie of Harvey with his new raised bowl. It is ceramic and was made in Japan.
When I ordered the bowl the website was in Japanese and I had to call on the assistance of Ken from Neko Ngeru Cat Adoption Cafe. Ken is a native of Japan and helped me navigate the website and order the raised bowl for Harvey.
Ironically, the black ceramic bowl was not as popular as the white and cream versions on the website, so it was much cheaper. As you can see it is smooth pottery and looks lovely. How can you not love a beautiful bowl like this?
Please join the selfies, and show us your own photos. Do you have a bowl like Harveys? He loves it. Or, have you ever taken a ground-level selfie
