One of the top tips for bloggers is usually “brief is best” or that “short is smart” but is it really?

I came across a new blog recently, it had a superb post that had a lot to say and took time to say it thoughtfully and well. Did I mind it took time to read? Heck No!! Pal Nerissa does the same – he writes a story for you to read, at your leisure, and this is key point. Taking back your reading time from the busy world!

How Long is Relaxing Reading Time?

As long ad you make it. Writing long is to be applauded when you have the skill to write in depth with consistent quality.

Such writing is meant to be savoured, enjoyed and relaxed with. Grab your tablet, phone or iPad, read these posts when you want to chill on the sofa, or when you are stuck in a commute and need something life enhancing to focus on, away from the guy next to you with the ‘should have been washed hair’.

How Long Will You Spend Reading Good Long Posts?

Here’s a few thoughts we put together to help you enjoy a blog like Nissy’s or Erin’s :-

  • Be prepared to slow down and read, not just skim the text.
  • Grab a coffee, or a glass of something stronger, take a breath and prepare to read – don’t scamper around like a ‘nipped up kitten!
  • Remember someone worked hard for your pleasure – honour that.
  • In a rush? Be honest with yourself, go elsewhere. These blogs aim for quality of content to relish. Bookmark these treasures, and return when you are less stressed to enjoy the peace and focus of a well written long blog post.

Meet long bloggers Nerissa and Erin. Go say hello and spend some quality time with them.

We often save longer posts for when we have time to slow down. We believe that there is no right or wrong to how short or long. Sometimes short is perfect, especially when it comes to humor. But when we have something really important to talk about, it’s as long as it needs to be.

We’re often late in commenting on Nissy’s blog because we keep his post for reading it when we have time to really enjoy it. Purrs

Great advice, Silver! Certain blogs have the kind of writing that is meant to be savored. Slowing down is a lots art, isn’t it?

We never miss Nissy but confess to skimming. Sadly, 200 emails a day eats into blog reading.
