Many years ago the Chocolate Fish Cafe (situated in Scorching Bay) was the haunt of cast members of the Lord of the Rings films, which were shot in New Zealand. In 2009 the cafe moved and changed its focus – they work entirely from grills that sit out front so you can smell the delicious food as it is being cooked – see below where the windows are beyond the tops of the cars!
The food is delicious, the quality top notch, and prices reasonable for what you get. If you want ‘cheap as chips’ go elsewhere and leave us to enjoy the sunshine, the wonderful view across the bay and the marvellous coffee!

I wonder of my sons got there? They have been all over NZ on several occasions. They visit a dear friend and his family and they all go on vacation together. The went to the South Island this last time.

Oh wow Aunty Marjorie – this has taken Nan down memory lane. She used to walk around the peninsula with her friends when she was a young teen (middle to late 1970s). She lived in Strathmore Park then and her Dad was in the Airforce at Shelly Bay. The walk around the peninsula was beautiful. Very peaceful.
