One year ago on 24th May 2017 Dusty cat took his leave of the Dash Kitten family. He left on his own terms while resting on the sofa at home. We feel it’s nice to celebrate his life today in the selfies with the Kitties Blue.

Sunday Selfie Graphic

Dusty was adopted as a senior when a friend could not take him to her new rental. We gladly took him on and thought he might have a few months with us. It turned out he had nearly two years!

Dusty had been discovered early on his final day looking unwell. He was laid near his favourite bolt hole. He let Mum carry him to the sofa. This is how we knew he was ready to go – he never let himself be picked up – the cat knew his own mind.

Dusty was an inspiration and a lot of work as an ill senior, but we never regretted taking him on, not for a single moment. He was a much loved member of our family and he is always thought of with a smile.

Senior cats bring so much joy, if you want to adopt, please consider one. You will remember Dusty’s famous and much loved movie adventures to Eastbourne, Petone and Rivendell. The Eastbourne trip was a Nose to Nose video finalist this year, much to our surprise!

Please join us, and the Sunday Selfie crew as we celebrate our friends and family.

That is wonderful that you were gifted with more time with Dusty than you originally thought you would have. I’m sure those months together with you made him feel very special. His Eastbourne trip was sure deserving of being selected a finalist. (blowing kisses to the clouds for Dusty)

He was and still is a very special guy, and represents to us the image of a feline that has found happiness and hope in a new home that has let him have the space he needed and wanted in his senior years.
Sending all at Dash Kitten special Anniversary Purrs on Dusty’s Day… I think that should be a special day form now on, across the blogosphere, to celebrate our seniors?
