NEW YEAR 2018 Dash Kitten Graphic

Welcome to Cat Power in 2018!

We have some dazzling suggestions with just a Dash of cat fun, and some hopeful and healthy wishes for cats in the coming year.

May your cat’s life, and the life of every single cat worldwide to be a lot better and filled with love and hope in 2018. Let’s make 2018 the Year of Cat Power!

Have a Peaceful and Safe Year

Cat Power on the Dash Kitten Blog

Share a Shelter Cat Every Day. Free and Cat Powerful

You will see plenty, from the Pets on Death Row (PODR) and Miami Dade, and Philadelphia, all appealing for help, donations and forever homes. If each of us share one cat each day that increases their exposure by 365 views at least.

Promote a Local or International Rescue Once a Week

Spotlight in your tweets and FB posts one rescue for the pet of your choice and boost their cat power. We recommend kitties worldwide, of course! This means you spotlight 52 cat rescues in one year! We suggest you start off with our close friends Place for Cats who Mum writes for.

Take Your Cat to the Vet in 2018

Massive numbers of cats never see the vet. Their owners think this is fabulous! Their cat is healthy so no worries!

This is WRONG! You cat needs an annual check up, maybe rabies shots. Your vet can tell you. Just Do It.

Buy Your Cat a Shiny ‘Raindrop’ Drinking Fountain

Shameless plug for pet hydration. Whatever the season, correct hydration is of vital importance to your cat. It keeps kidneys functioning at their correct capacity and your cat in tip top health. Pioneer Pets are at the top of their game producing fountains for fussy cats. Check our review and cool video.

Speak Out Against Declawing

This barbaric and inhumane procedure is a nightmare for any and every cat. It cripples a cat, encourages acute behaviour problems and leaves a cat in constant pain. There are painless alternatives.

Our valued colleague City the Kitty can tell you all about it. Unlike extreme animal advocates City the Kitty and his mum advocate serious and respectful interaction with those who still encourage declawing, to help bring about permanent and life enhancing change for cats. This way rules can be changed and laws put in place to protect cats permanently.

Keep a Feral Cat Warm This Winter

When in doubt we turn to Alley Cat Allies for feral cat advice. There is a lot of help to their web site via several links below. They are the top site to find feral and stray cat help on. When in doubt get in touch with Alley Cat Allies – you can save lives.

Find a New Social Media Cat Friend Each Week

Use Twitter, or Instagram to discover a new and fun friend, or rescue each week. This gives you 52 friends to love each week.City thre Kitty anti declawing cat heroBuy a Supplement for Your Senior Cat

An increasing number of feline supplements are appearing on the market. Check them out to ensure you are buying something 100% safe and natural.  We use Pet Mussel by Silberhorn, although there is another local to us Techniflex Feline. Both are 100% green lipped muscle (in  a soluble gelatine shell). It is starting to work for Harvey. He moves with a little more confidence than before, meaning his achey joints are easing a little.

Track Your Garden Cat

Not a simple plug for a review we did. This is one thing we would buy, paws down, again and again. Our review explains why. For those with garden, or free roaming cats this small transmitter and cat locator is a real blessing. You can find your cat within a 120 metre/400 feet radius of the tracking handset. Worth every hard earned penny or your last cent.

LOVE your Cat

In health, in sickness. Through kitten hood to old age – this is a lifelong commitment you undertake. Be there fore your cat. Love them with all your heart. You are all they have – be the person they look up to.

What great advice to cat parents! I consider myself a cat person but now the two dogs pretty much rule the house no matter how much Rhette tries to be boss! But after 4 expensive vet visits for Dolly then Rhette got sick I didn’t hesitate to take him to the vet no matter the cost. Sandra and Dolly

Meow! Cat Power, indeed! I love these suggestions for feline advocacy, especially speaking out against cat declawing. Hey, barbaric people, let’s remove the tips of your fingers and see how you like living with those consequences. Grrrr!!!

Great tips for an awesome year! So glad you brought up declawing. Such a terrible terrible practice, and totally unnecessary! Ugh it makes my blood boil! I need to look into one of those tabcat trackers too. Thanks for the reminder

Great resolutions! Is the mussel supplement a powder? I tried giving Mr. N whole ones and he flatly refused to eat them.

Several of your resolutions are excellent ways to start the New Year with some love and each of them are relatively easy – especially supporting different shelters each day. Thanks for giving us a gentle push in the right direction for 2018!

You hit on some very important tips in this post and showed us how easy it is to give more exposure to cats that are looking for their forever homes. I hadn’t seen that fountain before. Hydration is extremely important for cats and fountains definitely help them get fresh water.
