Get Colouring with Cats by Cathrine Garnell

Fans of Bionic Basil will be excited to see that there is a Colouring With Cats book, it’s called ‘Getting Your OM on‘. Hi everyone, it’s Phoebe here and I have hot news for coloring fans. I am so excited to have got my paws on a review copy, so I can give you a sneak peek of the colouring treats inside! This is how we do wellbeing for bloggers around here!

My half finished first effort – Phoebe

OK, I admit, it’s not Basil’s own paw work but his mum’s – Cathrine Garnell, who is a talented writer, published author, and artist. Now, in case you are not familiar with mandalas, here’s a definition to help you. Then read our review below!

A mandala is a complex abstract design that is usually circular in form. In fact, “mandala” is a Sanskrit word that means “circle”. Mandalas generally have one identifiable center point, from which emanates an array of symbols, shapes and forms.

Colouring With Cats – What I thought

16 printable mandalas make up the collection in Book One. Each design is totally different, some are more complex than others, but we think there is a design here for everyone to make a start with, and, once you begin, you will become totally wrapped up in your colouring. Beginners and experienced colouring fans will love the challenges here. The free colouring book is live on Basil’s blog right now!

Colouring With Cats – Pro Tips

  • Many hobby colourists prefer single-sided printed sheets that allow them to use specific techniques such as markers, sharpies, gel pens or watercolours. As you print off these designs yourself, there is no worry about the quality and type of paper you use because you choose your own surface – how brilliant is this.
  • If you love one design you can print it off a second time to enjoy a whole new colour scheme
  • You can print off a design on different papers to see the effects of different colouring materials

  1. TW’s old BF was an artist and one of his specialties were mandalas. She still has some of them he gave to her. I thought I saw on FB there was a free download but I couldn’t find it.

  2. How fun. Mom loves coloring, and has seen many of these beautiful mandalas on Basil’s blog. She can’t wait to get one of the coloring books. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy

  3. Oh wow Dash Kitten Crew, thank mew so much fur featuring our new free Colouring with Cats book and fur saying such lovely things! ?? We’re so excited about it and have a few books more in progress, with an Easy Mandalas fur beginners book through to some highly complex designs fur those hardcore colourists, and then we have some other really fun designs coming too. All FREE of course.

Phoebe we can’t thank mew enough fur your beautiful post, plus your Pro Tips were pawesome, we couldn’t have said it better, and regarding the single-sided colouring sheet, this was very important to us as the P.A. in the past has bought some very expensive colouring books which were unusable due to patterns being on both sides of the paper, which is so frustrating. So we cured that issue with our own! MOL

Also we think your mandala is tres fabulous and we can’t wait to see it finished ??

    Sweetest purrs and many thanks

  5. HI, Phoebe. Thanks for sharing this wonderful new book! I for one wll be downloading my copy ASAP on Monday as this is definitely something Iwant peep to try, and to help de stress. Purrs, Erin

  6. I loved colouring as a kid, and I always stayed in the lines!! My niece bought me a mindfulness colouring book which I’m loving and this one sounds great as well. I do prefer one sided so I’m going to check this out. Thanks for sharing.

  7. Phoebe you are adorable and would love to have you as my coloring buddy anytime! This looks like a fabulous coloring book, like that you can copy them onto different media for all kinds of variations.

  8. Years ago (decades to be honest) my mom used to always buy us an adult coloring book and markers for every Christmas. We loved them, but we did have a few problems with the markers bleeding through. I think it would be great to print them yourself on your preferred paper and not have to worry about ruining the next design.

  9. I began coloring one of these types of pictures at BlogPaws but didn’t have the time to finish. With my cataract, I can’t see well enough to focus right now, but would love to begin in a couple of months after my surgery.

  10. This is so cool! Coloring is a lot of fun. I haven’t had much time to do it lately, but I always enjoy it when I do. Manna and Dexter would enjoy “helping” me color one of these! I’ll add this to my list of posts to share. 🙂
