Even before we began our post for Blog the Change you will be have seen a lot of #TeamCat and #TeamDog over the past week in social media, with the excitement of the chance to win a place on the virtual football game on the Hallmark Channel with #thelucybowl. With the latest in high tech gadgetry the commercial promises to be a stunner in a tough competitive field – save the date 1st February 2015.
The Lucy Pet Foundation is a cause very close to our hearts and, no, we are not just meowing empty words – these people have an huge heart and they dream BIG – so big we want to shout it from the rooftops of Everytown USA, and the WORLD in our Blog the Change post! At the helm is founder and former head of Natural Balance Pet Foods, Joey Herrick with a world changing vision – read it here.
We are a blog that values, and does its best to promote, the disadvantaged and those in urgent need of an home through our AnimalSOS column, our local rescue work, and our work with Place for Cats, the NYC foster network – we want to make a change, just like the Lucy Pet Foundation.
The Lucy Pet Foundation wants to stop the flood of 80,000 pets a week dying in shelters with a nationwide programme of low cost neutering and education, they want to close the doors on the dread New York ACC once and for all, and work to ban the barbaric use of gas chambers in the USA. Here’s the Lucy people with some brief and breathtaking stats :-
- If you do the analysis in just one major city, the numbers are staggering. With one mobile clinic we can spay and neuter over 120 dogs and cats per week. Doing this 48 weeks of the year, means 6,000 animals will be spayed and neutered. This will prevent those animals from adding a minimum of 15,000 new potentially homeless animals to pet overpopulation. By year three it is estimated that we can prevent over 500,000 animals from suffering in that same community with just one mobile clinic.
If YOU want to be in with a chance to WIN as iPad Mini and at the same time spread the word about world changing The Lucy Pet Foundation neutering programme this is what you need to do :-
