Here in Wellington, near the main railway station, major work is being done to improve the area around the Cenotaph. The memorial was built in 1929 to honour soldiers killed in the First World War, and also has Maori links. For now pedestrian traffic that usually streams across the area is diverted and workers are busy transforming the area to include easier access to the Parliament area and a new public art work.
Work started in September 2013 and it is hoped this will be completed for the 2015 ANZAC Day commemorations. For many this will be an important time – 25th of April 2015 marks the centenary of the ANZAC landings at Gallipoli.
Before you go, we would like to ask for your best most deep love for Nylablue, who will be leaving us on USA very soon. It will hit her mum utterly and devastatingly hard. Please, if you have a moment, visit Nylablue’s blog. Her mum needs us and our support over the next few days.
