Cotswolds Image
Welcome to our Time for Travel report and Giveaway from Great Britain.

One of the prettiest places to find treasure and explore is Bourton on the Water. The buildings of local warm honey-gold stone are an essential part of the area known as The Cotswolds.  Bourton often called the ‘Venice’ of the Cotswolds due to its wide bridges spanning the graceful River Windrush, conjuring an atmosphere of gracious and gentle peace.

In April, when Mum visited, it was Spring and drizzly!  But no arguments from her, as this meant the large crowds that usually fill Bourton on the Water had vanished in the spring mist!  As you can see from the brief video, this is a beautiful and well preserved village with a mix of practical local and artisan tourist focused shops that are delight to browse.

The Cotswolds area (approx. 790 sq miles) was designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1966 and the landscape is filled with delightful stone-built villages, historical towns, and stately homes and gardens. Nearby Upper Slaughter is one of an handful of ‘Double Thankful‘ villages; due to all their then members of the armed forces surviving both World War I and World War II.

Our gorgeous giveaway includes a beautiful handmade Snail in glorious Blue Glass, hand made at the Cotswolds Jinney Ring Craft Centre. We also have a copy of England’s most famous, fascinating, and earliest historical documents, The Magna Carta. Our copy comes tightly rolled is a sturdy cardboard tube with Magna Carta 1215 stamped on it – which is so cool!! STOP PRESS There is a terrific write up by Andrew Millar, British Consul General in Houston about the Magna Carta and its US links here.

NOTE :- The Magna Carta (Latin for Great Charter) was the first document imposed upon a monarch of England by a group of his subjects, and it was the first to limit his powers by law and protect their rights.

Don’t Milo and Alfie live in the Cotswolds? It’s SUCH a pretty area!

Um, yeah, sadly, we aren’t allowed to have anymore breakables here either for some unknown (Binga) reason.

We just wanted to say that the snail is adorable! We aren’t allowed to have any more breakables in the house, because we keep breaking them, so we can’t enter this. But we are sure the winner will really enjoy that!
