Middle Earth has conjured up some wonderful things of a magical nature. However, it has also brought about more concrete benefits for the citizens of middle earth, such as the Roxy Cinema, Miramar, Wellington.

Roxy Cinema, Wellington, NZ
It began as the Capitol Theatre in 1928 built to screen silent films.  Converted to ‘talkies’ it survived until 1964 when it became a shopping centre before being reopened as a cinema of superb quality in April 2011. It’s Art Deco style has been recreated and the interior also shows a selection of superb Weta sculptures and pictures.

Aunty, Nan loves these posts about Wellington – her stomping ground during (some of) her youth. She remembers this building as a shopping complex during the 1970/80s – it is wonderful to see it has been restored back to it’s true origins. It makes a much more fabulous movie theatre than it did a shopping mall. Thank you for the trips down memory lane.
