Family Friday – Pet Caring

We have seen the name PetCaring begining to appear online side-by-side with YouCaring – but their focus is PET fundraising pure and simple. PetCaring visited Twitter (@Pet_Caring) for #Petchat and, when I approached them to find out more, they were happy to chat – so may I introduce Michelle Mayer of PetCaring in our exclusive interview…… now you can find out more about fundraising for your cause be it great or small…….

Q:YouCaring is becoming an established and popular successor to the fundraising ‘chip in’, in fact we are hosting one on our blog now! Can you explain why you felt the need to establish PetCaring separately for animals?
With YouCaring, we created a platform for individuals who had a need to raise funds for medical expenses, adoptions, missions trips, or other campaigns to help others in a time of need. As our site and users grew, we understood that there was a huge need to create a platform that was specific to crowd funding for animal causes, since we began to see so many fundraisers starting on YouCaring geared towards the same genre. This is how PetCaring was born. To fulfill a need. Our aim was to specifically create and provide a specialist support service geared towards helping animals. But we don’t want it just to be a fundraising platform – our heart is for our site to become a hub of community, support, dialogue, information sharing. Part of the reason we exist and do what we do is to bring people together with the aim of helping animals, globally.

Q: Are the Rules for PetCaring the same as big brother You Caring?
Yes, ultimately they are, as PetCaring really is the sister site of YouCaring. The emphasis might have a bit of a different expression but the core idea is the same.

Q: Who do you see taking advantage of the PetCaring site? What kind of appeals do you expect to see appearing there?
We have many people taking advantage of what we offer at PetCaring. Campaigns range from individuals crowd funding for unexpected medical treatment needed for a special furry friend, to shelter or rescue organizations looking for new ways to raise awareness and support for the services they offer to animals in need or facing euthanization. We also have fundraisers focused on raising support for individuals with medical conditions that would benefit from the assistance of a Therapy or companion animal.

Q: Can people use Pet Caring with confidence?
ABSOLUTELY! PetCaring offers secure online giving processed through WePay or PayPal. They then deliver the funds safely to  a linked bank account. And we also have an integrated social media platform on our site, equipping our users to easily share their campaign with their networks at the click of a button.

Q: Any hidden extras?
Just like YouCaring, PetCaring is completely, 100% free to use. The only charges our users experience are the ones issued by WePay or PayPal for processing credit card payments. PetCaring does not handle any of the money. We want to see as much of the money raised go straight back to the cause and that’s why you will never find hidden extras with us.

Q: How would you advise a newcomer to set themselves up on Pet Caring? Maybe someone who has been told it’s a great idea but arrives on your ‘doorstep’ online unfamiliar with online fundraising sites? Any tips?
Getting started could not be easier. I would first advise a new comer to check out our fun how – to video, which they can see on our web page. Then I would tell them they could get started by simply following the steps there. We really do pride ourselves on making the steps to start a campaign as simple as possible. And, if anything is at all unclear, we welcome our users to reach out to us and get support from customer service, where we make every effort to respond within 24 hours.

My former shelter Contra Costa Humane Society in CA used this to raise over 1,000 USD for our Animeals program. We distribute supplemental pet food at our Food Bank distribution sites monthly to help families keep their companion animals rather than having to surrender them or worse, abandon them on the streets
