Stormy Wellington Train Ride from The Dash Kitten Crew on Vimeo.

Windy Wellington is definitely a wintery place at the moment! We have just had a major storm blast through New Zealand and luckily Dad managed to shoot some video of it on his way home. It makes scary viewing when you realise how close to the seaside the train travels. Wellington, summer or winter, is a place for adventure!

Windy Wellington – How We Made the Video

This is a great chance for you to see how versatile video is, and how you can use it when you take part in our video challenge beginning in August.

Our video was shot from a train, on a cellphone, then edited (mostly to shorten the length and focus on the dramatic sights).  We added music from Incompetech for drama (remember to credit music in your video).

  • Equipment used for video Dad’s Samsung mobile telephone
  • Edited in iMovie for Mac
  • Music added from

You Can’t Beat Wellington On a Good Day

This is a popular quotation, and when you see Wellington at it’s best you will agree 100%. On a lovely day Wellington’s wind eases, the sun shines, the cafes are full to bursting with people enjoying a latte or espresso. So, as a contrast to our stormy video above, this image by Julian Apse sums up, for us, the best of Wellington!

Windy Wellingon vs Worldwide Weather

We know our USA and European readers are suffering some seriously hot times, so please take care to drink enough, wear sun screen and, at the height of the sunny day, stick to the shade. OK?

What a beautiful video! I know that sounds … err … odd … but I love stormy weather – and I also like watching the waves coming in. Maybe one of these days I’ll figure out how to take a video šŸ™‚

That’s a great video of the wild and woolly weather!
The main London to Penzance track runs beside the sea and they always close the line when we have bad storms because the waves go right over the top of the trains, but 3 years ago when we had all the flooding part of the track got completely washed away.

Holy Cat! That’s some rough and wild weather, for sure. We’re happy to watch it in a video, but are pretty sure we wouldn’t want to experience that live!

Absolutely great. My kind of weather. Wish I was on that train. And, yes, I love how you get cold from the rain than get home and warm up, often in bed.
