The protest marched along Lambton Quay, Wellington’s main shopping thoroughfare, and the chant rang out :-

“What do we want?”
“Justice for Animals!”
“When do we want it?”
“NOW!”

Mum and I have never been on a protest march, we are active a lot online (see our AnimalSOS page) but this time we needed to make our voices heard. Why? The current (National) Government thinks its a good idea to test ‘recreational drugs’ called party pills on beagle puppies (story).

Against Animal Testing Protest, Wellngton, John BanksJohn Banks M.P. addresses the Parliaament crowd.

The issue is not ‘belief’ against ‘belief’ (think UK Labour/Conservative or USA Democrats/Republicans) this is a government in power condoning experiments on animals for a ‘fun drug’.  This bothered Mum and I so we had to speak out.
Mum had a textile class but after it finished she rushed into Wellington and was able to hear John Banks vocal opponent against animal testing, Mojo Mathers (Green Party) and Ian Lees-Galloway (Labour) speak. Sadly, no-one from the Government (National Party) had the courage to stand up.

Against Animal Testing Protest, Wellngton,
We clapped, cheered and shouted – we made our feelings known, then dispersed peacefully promising to fight against this insanely selfish legislation. Mum and I were proud to be there.

Hooray for you and Mom! TW used to protest all the time but doesn’t have the time or energy anymore.

If you ask me, it sounds like those governmental peeps are USIN’ the drugs, themselves! How else can one explain such insanity?
