To begin 2017 we encouraged our readers to set goals. Today we want to look back, and reflect, on a succesful 2016 at Dash Kitten. We hope you will join us to celebrate a year that has meant a lot to us. A year that has seen us reach further and aim higher than ever before, thanks to you our readers.
Our Successful 2016 Begins – BlogPaws®
Our high-profile appointment as the first International Ambassador to Blogpaws put us firmly in the spotlight, and we were able to use the opportunity to encourage sponsors to look worldwide for their campaign bloggers with our International Pet Blog Focus.
We flew half way around the world to BlogPaws 2016 and finally met some of our valued friends and colleagues ‘for real’ including long time AdventurCat collaborator Mom L from Savannah’s PawTracks with her totally inspiring posts on TNR and her fight for MommaKat, Paula Gregg from Sweet Purrfections, Sue from The Island Cats, and Lola’s mom Dawn White. Dawn donated the profits from sales of ‘Lola: Diary of a Rescue Cat to a local AZ cat charity and had broken $50+ midway through BlogPaws.
AND …….. we got to meet our heroine Summer from the Sparklecat blog FOR REAL! Our first Somali cat! Summer gets carried around in a cute pouch that let’s her peep out to say hi, or retreat if she feels uncomfortable. She was a real star in Kate Benjamin’s Lounge too.
We cheered on friend and Nose to Nose nominee Erin the Cat Princess and reflected that there is no greater praise for an upcoming blogger than to achieve a nomination of this calibre. Well done Erin.
- We learned a lot at BlogPaws, across a wide rage of blogging topics, and were inspired to continue the video work we began in 2016. Our upcoming ebook on Making Movies will be published at the end of January!
A Successful 2016 with Place for Cats
Mum was asked late in 2016 to be a blog content provider for the Place for Cats (PfC) blog and has begun to generate content for this recently. This is an honour for Mum who admires the amazing, hard-working Director of PfC, Mia Lancaster. We aim to get the adoptable cats and some informative content on the blog, as well as a mailing list. Currently the cats available via this fine foster network are on PetFinder and we have some true stars!
Our Successful 2016 Video Adventures
When Mum got her GoPro3 she was determined to learn about videos so we began to create videos, reading a lot of online information and developing our skills. You can see our skill building work on Vimeo, and we recently launched our very own YouTube channel!
- Thanks to the BlogPaws Social Learning Centre we also ventured successfully into the world of Facebook Live videos. For anyone wishing to build their skills across a range of social media platforms, there is no better place to learn. The SLC is user-friendly, low stress and encourages achievement at all levels.
Our Successful 2016 Product Reviews
As well as taking our first steps in the world of Twitter Influencers with Wellness, we made connection that resulted in our first, and very well received, sponsored product reviews, thanks to BlogPaws.
Our Surefeed Review made a big impression, and we received a personal thank you from the company. The feeder is still in use today by our reviewer Dusty (who won’t give it back!), and we met representatives of the company at the 2016 Pet Expo here in Wellington who loved our review!
Our PetCube review, thanks to Rachel Yuens at PetCube.com was very well received and, even today with more wi-fi interactive pet cams on the market, the stylish quality of the PetCube wins out for us. Their PetCube ‘Bites‘ model is an upcoming development we know dogs, in particular, will love!
For our home audience, our Jimbo’s interview introduced a world audience to New Zealand’s premiere raw manufacturer whose quality won them a premium customer satisfaction award, beating big hitters like Whiskas and Royal Canin.
We look forward to a successful 2017. Like you we have our goals, and we have nearly finished our 2017 Business Plan (WooooHoooo). Thank you for joining our celebration of the good things that happened last year. There were some tough times but we came though – thanks to our readers!
See you on the blog!
